The Land Beneath the Fog (Negeri di Bawah Kabut) takes viewers to the misty highlands of Genikan, a secluded village in the mountains of Central Java, Indonesia. Amid swirling fog, two families strive to sustain their way of life, deeply rooted in tradition and the rhythms of the earth. Facing unpredictable weather and economic pressures, they confront forces beyond their control.
The fog not only blankets their fields but also symbolizes the uncertainty of their future. Yet, through it all, the villagers’ bond with their land and heritage remains strong. The film captures quiet moments of resilience and transformation, revealing the heart of a community on the edge of change.
With lush visuals, The Land Beneath the Fog is a reflection on tradition, change, and the delicate ties that connect us to our roots.
